Damit Dean! Would you stop being such a cheap son of a gun and turn the heat up so we can start riding!?!?!

Welcome Ed I love the candy apple red.... Welcome to the joy of VFR... You might run into me if you come up to NH on 13, 137, 149, 77, 124, 119, 202 and certain roads in between...

Thanks, MrJoelieC. I make the run up along 202 then over to Brattleboro once in a while--nice Sunday morning ride--so I'll keep an eye out for you.

Jeez Joel, gime a break. I did call my heating oil company but they refused to deliver enough oil at my prebuy price to heat the whole neighborhood, and there is NO WAY I'm buying anything at the going price!

    ewryly,
Which route do you take to Brattleboro from 202? I'm on 119 near 12.

I take 202 to 119 just south of Jaffrey, then over to 63 and back down that way. From there it depends on how much time I have left. If I can, I like the ride up 116 to 112 and down into Huntington, MA. I haven't gone much further north in either NH or VT. I'm sure I am missing a lot :)

Then you've ridden right past my house. Let me know if you want some company next time you do that loop.

Definitely. Today would have been warm enough, at least in the valley.

Hi Ewrly, from across the other side of the world.

I also have the red 07 VFR and a VN 900 in candy lime pearl.

do you suffer from the same problem i do? which bike to ride?

i guess it depends on the day, the weather, how i feel at time, what colour i feel like riding, where im going, whats practical, how far ??????
jeez this multile bikes thing is hard work!
any how i also have a 98 shadow which i gave to my brother in an effort to'convert him to bike riding at the ripe old age of 55.

Richard, I saved myself those tough decisions by selling my shadow to buy the VFR. (It has a good home, so I sleep well.) Otherwise, I would be torn some days. I am truly enjoying the VFR, but I occasionally miss the laid back, torquey ride of shadow. I'm planning on taking the VFR out to Minneapolis in a month to see my niece graduate from college. I am replacing the stock seat with a Sargent, but keeping the stock bars for now. It will be a good test of that setup.

My niece is at a school in Iowa, but I'll ride there from Minneapolis with my brother, her dad, who started with a 99 Shadow when he saw how much I enjoyed mine. (I'm not as good a brother as you!) Now he has an SV600.

    hope you enjoy that trip.

Let me know what you think of the sergeant seat? i had a corbin on my gen 5 VFR which was superb, and a Sergeant on my ZRX 1200 which i traded in for the VN. im keen to hear your thoughts on how it feels.

    ride safe:biggrin:

Thanks, I definitely let you know. I've put 1000+ miles on the VFR since I started riding it this spring, and the stock seat is not bad, but I don't think it will keep me happy on ten hour days. I had a corbin on the Shadow, and that was a nice seat.

Congratulations, welcome to the club! Out of curiosity, when you changed the oil, were your side fairings a pain to remove because of the grommets in the upper corners? Oh, they are actually called "well nuts"... first thing I learned here!

Yep. Is there a trick to getting the fairing off without pulling those out?

My shop manual, which I did not have for the first oil change, says to pull off the small plastic panels on the sides of the instrument panel to access them. I managed to get one panel part way off, but there is a trick I don't understand. It has some tabs and slots and requires a secret handshake of some sort. I was afraid it was going to break, so I gave up.

What bothers me is I know that the top of the well nut is supposed to pop through the hole in the fairing before the screw is tightened, and there is no way to guaranty that it does. It probably doesn't really hurt anything if it doesn't pop through the hole, but these things distract me.
