Well lets see, I havent been on a bike since i used to ride dirtbikes back in middleschool (like a decade ago, lol) but I just picked up an 84 Interceptor VF500 for $250 last week and I'm looking forwards to restoring her. From what i can tell, she needs a chain, new gas tank, an air box, new gas tank and probably hafta free up the carbs... Though my plan is to take my time and rebuild her throughtout the winter so i can enjoy it next spring/summer. I've actually never messed around with bikes before (outside of helping my dad with his) as I'm more of a car guy, but im really looking forward to this project, ill try to get a rebuild thread going once i actually start disecting, as i want to document it (which i completely forgot to do when i rebuilt my camaro -__- (im still kicking myself in the ass for that, lol) Here's some pics i took when i brought her home :]
Hey man. Welcome aboard and good luck with the rebuild. Where in Jersey you from? And what's so funny about being in middle school "a decade ago"? Hell, my youngest kid is a senior in HS now. You do the math with that one! And there's a bunch of really old geezers on this forum with a lot of knowledge on these bikes, so pay attention!
I'm from Hazlet (Monmouth County)... and it just occurred to me, as I was typing this thread, that its already been 10 years since then, sure doesn't feel like it.
I know Hazlet. I fish out of there sometimes. I'm not too handy with a wrench, but maybe we can hook up someday and BS over a few cold ones. I'll be looking forward to your rebuild. Now be honest - you live down the shore, and you drive a Camaro. You Italian? lol
Hahahaha It's ok, im only 1/4 Italian, n i only drive a Z28 (not an IROC-Z) so i think im safe, lol... But I'm always down for BS'ing, n when i get the bike running we'll definitely hafta get a cruise going or something, im sure there's other guys from NJ on here or something
