Hey folks. Not only am I new to the forum, I am new to the Interceptor. I bought an '85 vf700f for short money this summer on a whim; thinking I could turn it around for some dough. It had blown fork seals and a leaking tank. I fixed the seals and soldered the tank that had rotted through at the bottom seam, sealed it with some POR-15 and then re-painted the whole thing flat black. I hated to destroy the red, white, and blue but it could not be saved, so non-glare/non-stick she is. I registered it last week and then commenced to put about 280 miles on it right out of the gate. I couldn't stop riding. I'm hooked. I am an unofficial early Honda "rustorer". In the past year, I have "rustored" three Honda inline fours from the 70's. This winter I have another one to do. They are all in my garage. My garage: '75 CB400FSS '77 CB400FSS '75 CB550 Four '76 CB550FSS '78 CB750FSS '85VF700F Yeah, I ride a lot of OLD bikes. It's a financial decision based on the fact that for a couple hundred dollars, I can pick up a "snotter" and in a month or two roll it out of the shop and have it look, run and feel good. I try to keep all of the bikes as close to 100% stock as I can with the exception of things like flat bars or stuff that doesn't show like stainless steel brake pistons. The chrome may have a few specks in it or the paint isn't perfect, but these bikes are as old as I am and I don't set a good example, therefore, I'm not too picky. So anyway, Hello to all of you folks and please be understanding that I don't know much about that new-fangled 1985 technology. (anti-dive forks??? Who New?) I may ask some dumber questions. Thanks and ride safe---S
:welcome: Welcome aboard Bud. You will either love us or hate us. I hope it is the former. You will find a very wide arrangement of people here, some with what seems to be minds of a kaleidescope, but all great people regardless.:ncb::stickhorse::argue2::canada::fencing::drinker::bandito::kiss:
Welcome. I too have become hooked on the old scoots and am looking to pick one up as a winter project.
