hi all, been lurking around the forum for a month. but just decided to join up today. im on a few local forums and didnt know if i wanted to add another to my list, but after reading through the forums here, and see how nice you guys all are i figured why the heck not. anywho.. my name is Ryan, and i live in columbus ohio i work at the Honda Plant around here. we build the element, CRV, and now we are starting to build the new accord cross tour. im an avid biker, and car enthusiast. cars wise i have had quite a few mustangs mostly 86-93 (fox body cars) but since being married we only have 1, 01 convertible.. which the wife drives. i get to commute in the civic si. for bikes i have had several.. actually started out on a 86 VFR 750 RWB then the list goes as follows 96 Honda CBR 900RR 01 Kawasaki ZX7R 03 Honda CBR 954RR 99 Honda VTR1000 superhawk 01 Honda Shadow ACE 05 Suzuki M50 Boulevard 06 Yamaha R6 and now i am riding a 03 Honda VFR800 ABS i must say this is a perfect bike for my needs. i picked it up about a month ago.. after a 3 day trip from ohio to virginia beach and back on my R6 i knew i needed something to fit my needs better. i didnt mind the R6 if i am on it by myself.. i had alot of stuff done to it, seat redone, luggage, etc.. but 2 up the VFR takes the cake.... and my wife really enjoys riding alot more now. as of right now the VFR is down though.. nothing in a bad manner though. She is getting painted. i took last week to get it all prepped and ready for paint, and this week it got sprayed. i can do the prep work, but i leave the glossy stuff up to the pros lol. what color do you ask?? well in my opinion the best color option for the VFR (that we dont even get in the states) cant wait to get it back.. should have all the body work back by friday, and it should be all together saturday for the poker run im going on (if the rain holds out) here is what the bike looked like before hand (previous owner really liked fighter planes? hence the paint job) thats me and my wife on the bike on a 2 day trip we took a couple weeks ago. the bike is pretty stock, has gutted exhaust (that was actually done pretty well, sounds amazing) and a k&N filter. it has a krauser tour pack that i made a custom pad for the wife, heated grips, power outlet, and a custom PDA/phone mount (to use with our chatterbox xbi systems we have) and i just put some new Dunlop road smarts on her (great tires by the way) now i just need to order that sargent seat lol wow long intro anyway if any of you VFR guys are around Columbus let me know if you ever wanna take a nice ride. we have a great bike forum for locals here and do tons of rides, dyno days, charity events, etc. really good group of folks! as soon as the bike is back together il post some pics! Flame away lol
welcome, you know you will turn out just like the rest of us here now. I'm an addict--of two wheels. Great to have ya aboard
Welcome aboard, Ryan. I have seen that bike on the forums before. Kinda cool as the flying tiger. But I do not blame you a bit for going with the Euro black/white.
yeah, the previous owner is on this board and on ohio-riders.net. You got a great bike. I almost bought it myself. The white is my favorite color. Very good job.
Welcome. I just got an 02 VFR800. I live in Pickerington. Since there are a few scrapes, I was debating on doing the white/ black color scheme as well once I am more comfortable with the bike. Let me know if you're up for riding sometime.
always down for riding. link to the pics thread, after paint http://vfrworld.com/forums/sixth-generation-2002-2009/23037-just-got-my-03-painted.html#post175528
if you want a fantastic painter (the guy i use) here is some info.. obvisouly from the pics you can tell he does amazing work. and great turn around time. proffesional painter works for tansky toyota, and paints the race bikes for Attack Kawasaki. Pual Finn 614-394-2195 tell him i sent ya his way.
What does a paint job like that run? EDIT: n/m I see it in the other thread. Too bad I can't do prep work... Did you do any repairs to the original body work, or just sand them?
