    Hey,

Quick intro. I'm a new VFR owner. Just picked up a cherry '98 w/ only 8k miles on her. Runs and looks really nice. Just learning the ins and outs of the bike now, and I'm sure I'll have some questions later, but thought I'd pop out a quick intro.

Just sold a '00 Ducati Monster 750 to buy it. What a change for the better. The duck was alot lighter, but the Honda is way more machine.

I've got loads of riding experience (I'm an old fart) and bought the veefer to supplement my beamer (BMW R1100RS - also a sport touring model) which I still own. Between the two it's pretty easy to find something to fit my mood.

Welcome to the gang Fred. I have a 99 myself and love it. The talk of the day is about having a VFR Ralley so stay tuned and put in your 2 cents if you want to.

Hi Fred and welcome to the world of VFR's (no pun intended ) I think you will enjoy the VFR. It's rock solid machine. We have a photogalleyr and a member map so you can show us your ride and where you are so either other members can find ya or you can find your way home if you become lost, lol.

Cool. Welcome to the group. I have a friend who rides a BMW also. It's the one that is yellow and has silver stripes. R1100S? maybe? He let me ride it. Pretty decent, but no comparison to the VFR to me. I would much rather do the miles on my VFR. Still it's a nice ride and I had a good time on it. It actually handled better than I expected. Some of the controls seemed a little funny to me, though.

Thanks for the welcome(s). Yeah, he beamers are a bit more lazy handling and the engines are way more restrained (read power limited) per cubic inch, but they do eat up the mileage in a satisfactory way and with much aplomb.

My son and I are planning on doing some extended touring on these two bikes. I bought the VFR because it is a capable tourer (once I add a few goodies) and also a fun bike to blast around on too. Being 6'2" the first mod is some helibars and the second one is a high-mount staintune can (both are currently on the way).

Next will be some sort of an extended windscreen and then a bag system of some sort. I know I may be stuck switching exhausts when mounting the bags, but I can live with that. I'll ask specifics when I get closer to buying a luggage system, but I'm leaning toward Givi wingracks and hardbags.
