Picked uo this lil Yamaha 400 today. I made it gun and did a few things & paint to it in '08 for a guy I work with who used it as a starter bike.

Now I'm planning silly things for it.

    Some ideas

I'm planning on going WAY out my comfort zone on this one. The temptation to just build a Cafe out of it is hard to fight. But I have made those and have one in a long term build as it is.
These are som simular builds that have caught my attention....

If you're not going to Cafe it, how about a Bobber?

I'm thinking a Hardtail-bobber-bar hopper type. I do have several sets of longer forks that would allow me to get a few more degree of rake out of it. I would like to use the spoke rims but they are fighting me abit. There are plenty of varrious mag wheels in the shop to go with. I'm Limited to a total $500 budget on this and I have $400 left. I have 4 fuel tanks here but none of them seem "right". Was thinking of a "Peanut" tank but not done shopping around yet....

Was also looking at the "BRAT" bikes... Kinda Bobber-Rat soft tails. Shorter or shortened shocks. Less work but I'm sot sure I'm digging them as much as a hardtail-chop.

May have my tank. Kristins first bike was a 81 KZ305 Kaw. Its a lot slimmer in width than the yam tank ansd the best is it cost me $0. A bit rusty but I have acid wash and liner left over from the Radian build. I had it on the wall of our game room with a Betty Page pin-up on it under cheip paint. Kris says I have to replace it with another one.

No need to take the old Kaw tank off the wall. After some shopping around I picked up this tank for $25 today.

that should look just about right... after I saw what you were working on, I damn near picked up a CB650 for $250 that needs a restore. I held off though knowing that my garage is full of half started projects...

This Tripple back-bone has GOTTA go, I'm not digging it.

I have 4 sets of forks to chose from right now. Still figuring what I'll end up using for forks and front wheel.

To save me a ton of paper work, I'm gonna use this this VIN off a old Kaw that the wife blew up.

Dude that looks like a lot of rake to me. did you measure that out? That's gonna take one hell of a set of forks or else the case will drag. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong... can you mock up a set of forks so we can see?
