Ok, I am running a stock bike except for these minor mods. I did remove the baffles from the exhaust. I removed the snorkel, unplugged the PAIR valve electrical connection and disables the flapper. I am running Pilot Road 3 tires and even with them pumped up to 36/42 like Honda says, I am only getting about 36 mpg, even riding mellow. Hardly any ventures into VTEC land and keeping my rpms around 5-6K on the freeway and mellow around town. I am running Shell Rotella T6 and the plugs are less than 5K miles old, air cleaner is super clean, temps go no lower than 168 on the freeway, with fresh air and 50 to 60 degree temps. It just seems that my mileage is very low. Now, I am tall at about 6'2" and heavy at a current weight of 280 and yes, I am losing weight. Ideas? I thought with the tires pumped up, I would pick up some mpg's but no luck. Could it be the fuel pressure regulator leaking? How would this be tested?
Where are you riding the motorcycle? In city traffic where there is a lot of stop and go? Or steady highway cruising? Ambient temperature/riding location can have a significant effect on my 6th gen's fuel economy. When the temp is in the 40-50F range with a fair amount of city riding, fuel economy tends to be in the mid-to-upper 30s. With temperatures 60F+ and superslab cruising, mpg is 42-44. As you might already know, average fuel economy among many riders of the VFR is about 41mpg.
