I got my VFR in January,2007. I've been staring at this bike for 4 months, sitting pretty in my garage. Well today,i took it out for my very first ride ever. What the hell was i thinking? I've been missing out on this for years. I was really scared to get on a bike, not knowing what to expect from two wheels. I did really good today, i put 15 miles on her:biggrin: What made it real scary, was the fact i have never rode before, and half my family was out there to see me off. I know i have alot to learn yet, so i'm taking it slow for now. I start my MSC next month, so i'm sure they'll show me alot also. just thought i'd share my first ride with ya:peace:

I got the bug a lot earlier than you it seems. My first feeling of twisting a throttle and taking off on two wheels was when I was in Boy Scouts at a weekend camp and someone brought a mini bike. I was instantly hooked. Got my first bike at 15 and have been riding continually for the last 32 years (ouch!). I've owned everything from dual sport bikes to sport tourers and cruiseres. I got my VFR this January as well and absolutely love it.
Take your time learning and always be on the lookout for everyone else. I hope you will have as many years of fun as I have had. Welcome!

Im a realtive newbie, have only been riding for a year or two, and you will do great with the attitude you have. Take is slow for now, be mindful of whats around you, and take the MSF course. After years of road bike riding having to expect every driver to want to run into me, the transition to a motorcycle wasnt all that hard.
    Enjoy that bike!!

Congratulations. Be sure to take it easy until you get used to things. The best advice I can give is to not be in a hurry to do anything with the bike, such as coming to a stop, taking off from a stop, turning, parking, etc. Just take your time and it will all come to you the more you ride it.

For a first bike, you've spoiled yourself with the VFR. I don't think you can really appreciate the bike until you've ridden other types of bikes. The VFR does everything well.
