so i got this VFR off my boss this last weekend for $50.... that's not a typo....$50 bucks..... talk about a :smokin: deal. she's been sitting in our impound yard for almost 2 years and hasn't been run at all........bein a tow truck driver has SOME perks lol..... was a stolen/recovery that i'm sure the guy got his insurance money for and just left it. so i took all the fairings off, cleaned her up, drained the tank, changed all the fluids, cleaned up the carbs, pressurized the clutch, put in a new battery and had a friend of mine make a set of keys for it..... so far i'm into it for about 150, not including the price of the bike, and i just cranked her over...... she started cold, would only run on the choke until she got good and hot and then was ok........ took it down the street, about a mile, and came home and it ran great. Firin on all four, soundin like a purring cat!!!!..... i was actually REALLY surprised when i bought it because i figured it had NO chance of running..... but after cleanin all the systems out, puttin new plugs in it and a battery, she runs like a CHAMP...... i think i'll keep a running thread on this with pics and updates just for the hell of it..... has anyone had any kind of major problems with these bikes?? any recurring issues through the years of manufacturing that anyone's aware of?? from the looks of it, there are alot of people who LOVE these bikes..... this definitely IS NOT my first rodeo, just a different bike for me.

One issue. Flakey regulator/rectifiers. Carry a spare or try one of the preventive fixes. See the archives on this one. Lots of info...

Howdy Rick; Go buy yourself a couple lottery tickets tonight. Anyway consider yourself as far as Honda VFRs go, one lucky man. How many miles does she have on her, this is
something that most guys would like to know. Also try and send some pictures of the bike. Since the bike has been sitting,I WOULD PAY VERY MUCH ATTENTION TO THE TIRES. You dont need out of control situations with a bad tire or something. Also as far a fluid levels especially engine oil and coolent, check those early and often. Hope you like your new ride ,most of us had to shell out alot more than you did to get into our little club, so ride her safe and good luck. eddie
