I plan on upgrading my brake and possibly the clutch master cylinder on my 86 VFR750. I know a newer VFR part can be used but not the years. Does anyone here know the year (abs or no) and what needs to be done. Also if the clutch master can or should be done too? Also can the rear master be upgraded?
I'm not trying to be a wizeazz, but what are you trying to accomplish? A master cylinder is a master cylinder. If you are trying to improve the performance of your brake system, look into braided stainless lines and brake pads with a higher coefficient of friction. Rex
You need to maintain the same master to caliper ratio if you are retaining the stock calipers. On the side/underside of the master cylinders, there should be markings indication the bore size. Sometimes it is in inches (1/2", 9/16", etc) and sometimes it's in Metric (14mm, 12mm, etc). Make sure your replacement master cylinders are EXACTLY the same I.D. as the old ones and you're good. CBR, VFR, shouldn't matter a bit in that department.
