    To all of those who are serving, or have served, in our military;
    may this Memorial Day find you well.

    And may our nation always remember the sacrifices of its fallen heros.

    Thanks,
    Dean

    Thanks for that.

    This fall, I was home for a bit while the rest of the unit was in Afghanistan. During that short time home, I was required to be part of the team of soldiers who have the additional job of quickly jumping into a dress uniform and rushing to the next of kin's house to personally inform them of thier husband's/father's/son's ultimate sacrifice for our nation. I had to perform this brutally heartwrenching task four times over two months. It is the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my entire life. It is very hard for me to shake those thoughts on this day. I am, nevertheless, grateful that my family has not been paid that same sad visit, and pray that no more visits like that will be needed on anyone elses behalf.

    Please take time to pray for all my fallen brothers-in-arms and thier grieving families, and for we the fortunate who are still alive to serve another day.

    Pray for peace, so that all of us can be home with our loved ones again.

    Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. -- John 15:13
