    Hi all

Does anybody have this problem or maybe it has been answered before. My VFR800 as it is on idle waiting for green at intersection or in traffic the right side of the bike seem hotter. The fan on the left side has kick in when temp has reach +100'c but all the heat just seems to be on the right side of my leg.Is this a cooling problem or since it has full fairings heat from engine just doesn't have enough area to escape.

    Synthetic oil

    Falcon,

Are you running synthetic oil or dead dinosaurs? Repsol, Amsoil, or any good synthetic will drop your operating temp, but no matter what you do, you're going to generate a lot of heat at stops.

My '00 model seems to be the same. Frame just below the fuel tank on right hand side is noticeably hotter than the left hand side.

Only really notice it in summer.

If that section of frame were horizontal instead of verticle, I might try scrambling some eggs on it. lol. It does get real hot. But come the cooler days you might be thankful to have something to keep your legs warm.

you haven't lived until you ride my ST1100, talk about hot legs!!!! that bike will absolutely cook your legs well done especially the left side. i have a fan over ride switch on mine to turn it on in heavy stop and go.
so has anyone ever explored a second fan on the right side of the vfr or will that obstruct the airflow too much?
just curious since i will be moving the r/r to under the rear fender on my son-in-laws '98 vfr.

Mine is real hot on the right too. I will like it in the winter though.

Good luck! It never seems to work out that way for me... hot in the summer and too cold in the winter (relatively speaking cuz we live in Arizona, eh). I've even tried to warm my hands by putting them next to the vents and on the frame but neither helped!

I don't think its a big deal for the right side to be hotter, I am pretty sure that the single fan sucks air in on the left side and blows air out on the right side. Once you are riding along though, the fairing design pulls air in from the front of the bike and out both sides due to the suction created by the design of the fairing in that area.

Well I am assuming it will be somewhat warm on just my legs in the winter, but the hands will be very cold unless I get heated grips. You cannot ride a viffer in the summer with shorts on, thats for sure. Absolutley cooks the ankles. LOL. Gotta Love AZ!!!

Hey Frank, Instead of going through all the trouble of moving the rr maybe you could just cut a little bit of the inside of the fender out or drill a series of holes to get better air flow through there and make sure all the connections are wrapped up real good if you're riding in wet weather. I was thinking of doing that myself while I was cleaning and lubing my chain today. Just a thought.
