Post 'em up boys and girls ....

This week, starting today, temperature are going to be above freezing. This means riding season is only a couple of weeks away for me, it also means I need to get my ass in gear and get some shit done on my bikes. Before I can that shit done though, I need to finish my workshop which has been in limbo for almost 2 years now. Today - I got my ass outside, turned on the heat, and got to it!

I threw a lot of of shit out (wood, boxes, leftover poly, etc), built some shelves, and got everything off the ground. I still need to build some work benches, a few more shelves, and get my tools organized, but it's 100 times better than it was. Good enough for me to start working on the bikes again.

This summer, I plan on finishing painting the walls white, putting the trim up, installing a sub floor with insulation and vinyl on top, installing a tv, and putting a nice set of outdoor furniture in there.

Here's what it looks like after the end of the day ...

Sadly I also share this space with my daughter's car, but I have got room for two bikes, a workbench, storage cupboards, beer fridge, a decent sound system with DVD player for music DVDs, and good lighting.

Though the man cave itself may look somewhat spartan there Stosh. The VFR within the cave, now there is something special. :)

I think it is a very basic mistake to call it a garage.
Always refer to it as "the shed".
No one expects to park their car in the shed.

Just finished a project 3 weeks ago on mine...originally, it only had one 50w bulb in the ceiling....not good after dark. Ran two new circuits, one 20A and one 30A. Five new 4' led strip lights in the ceiling, three new GFI with lighted switches in 2 gang boxes, 14-3 wiring. Lights are switched 2, 2 and 1 over the bench. Cut an access in the ceiling and framed it out and decked about 150 square feet above the ceiling for storage. New paint and 1/8" diamond plate on the inside of the door. It's starting to come around, looking around at stereos now.

lol, My first street bike was a 1975 RD 350 too. Years ago a friend had 3 RD's and I bought this one from him. I'm going to sell it though, just don't ride it enough and you know 2 strokes need to be ridden regularly. Want it?

Oh Jesus! Often mine looks like this
    IMGP1961.jpg

    Because I am doing this
    IMGP1958.jpg

    And this
    IMGP1924.jpg

    Making these
    IMGP1991.jpg

    and this
    IMGP1952.jpg

And sometimes, there is a little less dust
    IMGP0947.jpg

Most of the time my bike is parked in there. I used to be able to move all my tools to the side and get my 92 S10 Jimmy and my wife's 92 Honda Civic in there when we had those. Those days are just fond memories though. She has a 2010 Civic which is much bigger, and I have that fucking big ass Sierra. That damned thing won't fit in the garage even with the tools gone I don't think.

I am damned near done with building the kitchen cabinets so next project, get the garage in order. I have an assortment of benches and shelving, all of which provide a nice resting place for sawdust. Ripping all that shit out and building shelves and doors similar to kitchen cabinets that can be closed when working with wood in there. Some sort of foam rubber seals on all the cupboard doors to keep the fine dust at bay. A drop shield of some sort to cover the lumber racks. That way I can clean the shop using a garden blower. Neighbours may not be too impressed but fukkem. They can call the cops. If it is a windy day, everything ends up on the nearby fields to cover the freshly sprayed cow shit.

A proper storage closet for my riding gear is in order. Changing the lighting to 4 double recessed fluorescent panels. Have to re-work a couple electrical circuits to make them more user friendly. Have this honkin 80 gal, 175 PSI 7 HP 220 V air compressor that I want to move so am going to hard plumb some lines and stick that sucker in a corner somewhere. probably behind some noise insulated doors to cut down on the noise it produces. Haven't decided if I am going to hard plumb with black pipe or copper. I want a few places where I can access air in the shop.

If the garage was insulated, I would put some sort of heat in there too. I could do that but I have to stop spending somewhere.

I finally have a two car garage all to my self. I just finished putting up shelves and organizing everything so I have the ability to park two cars, the VFR and hopefully a fully assembled shop crane and engine stand.

The Integra is my daily for groceries and rainy days. I am in the middle of doing a bit of a resto-mod on the Civic. I have a spare lower mileage engine and transmission that I just picked up, that I am going to do a quick rebuild on and swap in. Then the original engine will get a full rebuild with forged internals and some go fast parts. The BMW is the wife's. These pics are a few weeks old, I have all the tools off the floor and on the shelves now. I add one more set of shelves since then and threw out the wicker cabinet and everything by it. I am hoping to have the shop carne and engine stand assembled by the weekend.

1992 Civic si on the left, 2000 Integra ls on the right. Pretty funny that the VFR is probably putting down more power to the wheel than either of those cars.... lol
    [IMG]

I have since added one more set of shelves to the left and I have just enough space between them to still comfortably open the doors on the civic and get out. I still need to take the shop crane and engine stand out of their boxes and assemble them. I am hoping to have enough room to keep them on the ledge and still be able to park everything comfortably.

The Integra is just a tad too big to be able to park the vfr behind it and shut the garage.

But, luckily the Civic is so small I can comfortably fit the bike behind it and close the garage with no problems.

All the shop crane and engine lift boxes are still there, but I have since added a few shelves and got mot of the miscellaneous engine parts and tools off the floor and thrown all the wicker cabinet stuff out.

Spare low miles D15b7 engine/transmission/axles that I am going to do a quick rebuild on and swap into the civic.

After I get the D15b7 in the Civic, I will take my time on the original D16z6 restomod. Going all forged, some head work, a bigger cam etc...

Yup. I am top notch at making a mess making precise sawdust. I try to bring some into the house to show the wife. She is just so impressed, it brings a tear to her eye.

Wow, Nice digs guys. LOL at Randy, I get what you have going on there, our (half wifes) garage shop at the moment is being used a lot for storage, wife has taken on a couple projects, then my sons RX7 takes up the other third, some day I'll get it back to where it was before. In the mean time I just deal with it to keep peace. Now Norca has taken it to a whole other level, love it, now where's the Bikes? ;) Gator my friend, Damn you're a bit of a ways away Grrr, but love to get my hands on one again. I had a 69 RD back in the day that I moved for a H2, I just sold a RD250 I'd found that needed some love, love 2 strokes and for some reason those bikes are so much fun too. Here's my mess.
