I've been reading the forum for quite some time behind the scenes, and am now in the sport-tourer market. Thought I'd post and say thanks for a ton of valuable info here. Looking forward to picking up a VFR 800 soon. Looking in Illinois...

If you find multiple bikes you know people here will probably have strong opinions on them, which can help you decide.

What is your riding experience?

Have you considered the 1200? I only ask because the used 1200 can be an excellent value today.

That said the fifth generation is a wonderful sweet spot (say 98-99, pre-catalytic converter is best). RVFR and I seem to agree completely on this

I would agree about the 5th gen if they came is white which they did not. So 6th gen is your best bet.

Or go new. That 8th gen is so sweet my blood glucose readings go through the roof just thinking about owning one.

Bout time you posted up. I mean. It only took you abit more that 7 years.

The front of my pants get a little wet and I have a hard time walking when looking at the 8th gen as well. Sat on one at the dealership in Grand Forks, ND while waiting for my wife to pick me up there after my little accident in Wisconsin.

Shall we take bets on when the 2nd post comes?
