    I took my vf700f for a 50 mile trip and it ran great until the very end.
    When it got in stop and go traffic(running hotter) I noticed there was a power loss and it wanted to die at idle. After a stop and cool down period it ran great again. Could it be a the coil heating up??????. I have to rely on it for getting to work so any info would be greatly appreciated..Thanks

    Could be many things, I’ll list a few of them;

    Battery is low, with the radiator fan running, you barely have enough juice to keep the fuel pump going… check your battery
    Blown head gasket, could be leaking water into your engine, and causing a loss of power from frothy oil…. Check for missing water, or some smoke at the exhaust.
    Fuel pump and relay could be going bad, or poor connections – use meter to check, and inspect the connections visually
    Carb needles could be slightly dirty…
    Carb boots could have minor hairline cracks in one or more…
    Choke could be moving….
    Exhaust backpressure is set incorrectly…

    I have checked the battery and connections, I used terminal cleaner on all the connections with electrical grease. I checked the compression, I have not lost any coolant.
    Fuel pump relay is good. Could running 91 octane and being at 6k feet cause this when it gets hot????. Thank you for the info

    anything with the exhaust?
    or the choke?
    Air filter need cleaning?
    perhaps you're not getting enough air at that altitude?

    My 85 vf700f would lose power and die once the fuel pump heated up. It was fine until then. The problem got worse and worse. It started out like yours. I diagnosed it by waiting until it would barely run, ( meaning the pump was hot ) and bypassed the pump and rode on gravity feed. Problem went away, so I knew it was the pump. Dont know f thats your prob, but thats what happened to me. good luck
