k & N filter on a 6g vfr is it normal that the air box is now gapped where as with the stock one it was a tight seam... the sidewall of the filter is way thicker than the original. did i miss something? ?
never mind... i figured it out.... what a dolt. never took out that oem gasket....little bugger is hard to see in my defense
you notice the difference in size of the filter area between the stock filter and k&n? the kn is kind pointless...
5 laps may have been my problem to begin with.... lol.. as for the filter, well i see the value in it...for me it has a lot more material deck space over the stocker, and you can clearly see how the stock is much more restrictive. besides it was time to change it, and I like the lifetime aspect of the K&N. being filmed, I can see it trapping a lot more. I ride in some nasty construction zones around here, our roads are beaten with road salt in the winter and under constant revision and resurface in the summmer... plus I ride rain a lot.
At least its not just in Northeast Ohio. Our four seasons are Almost winter, Winter, Still Winter, and Contruction. Sucks but what you gonna do. Wish I was back in Norcal!
You realize that now there is a good chance that you opened the door to alot of " geographic location" humour.
meeh, it is what it is, us newfies have a thick skin,...bring the pain  besides.. either way you slice it, what i did was stupid.. lol. I will claim my spilt personality had the helm for this post.
there's another thread where we did the math on this. they are all about the same, and the reusables last forever... better for the envirnment, better for my wallet, better for my lazy streak as I don't have to ride to the shop and get a new one. Just clean it, let it dry, oil it, replace it. I'll stick with my reusable thank you very much.
How did it run after you installed it? My 03 I had to remove the K&N and put the stock filter back in because of idling issues.
I think maybe when rpm's went to 1550 and I reset to 1300 rpm that screw it up. I plan on re installing it and leaving it at 1550.
