issue running

    I just picked up a 1984 VF500F earlier this week. I can't start it with gas, but it will start right up when I spray carb cleaner onto the air intake. I tried bypassing the petcock, but it still won't start... My petcock vacuum diaphragm is also bad. So I ordered a petcock rebuild kit. Any help will be very appreciated!

    Are the carbs getting fuel ?? Open bowl drain screw to check. If you have fuel, then the carbs need a proper cleaning........along with the fuel tank !
