Watching the news looks like the fires are close but I don't know the area that well. Can some one from there give us a report? looks bad around Gatlinburg and western N.C. Hope everyone stays safe and this does not affect you.Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Not sure if it was burning or not but it rained here (2 hours WSW and almost identical weather) all night last night and most of the morning today, it is supposed to rain for a few hours tonight as well. It's the first substantial rain this area has had since back in the late spring. Between firefighters efforts and the buckets of water from the heavens I feel like any wild fires would be flamed out, especially with no dry grasses and underbrush to take an ember.
