First off - great board, you should all be very proud of the online community you've built! As for the introduction..... I recently (as in, last week...!) picked up a 2000 VFR800. This has been a dream of mine for many years, and it feels fantastic to finally pair up with such an amazing machine. I grew up in a farming community and did a considerable amount of dirt riding through my teens . I got into street riding back in 2004 with the encouragement of some folks I worked with. Took the riding class, passed the test, etc. and bought my first bike, a 2002 Suzuki SV650S. Over the next few years I took the clock from ~6.000km to just under 40.000km, primarily on extended solo trips through Alberta and British Columbia. With my skills honed and my passion for touring confirmed, I sold the SV650 at the end of 2008 in order to pickup the VFR that I always wanted (although I didn't count on it taking 18 months to find "The One"). I am a advocate of ATGATT and practice what I preach, although I don't own all the gear that I would like to (Aerostich, I love you and you will be mine)! I find that speed can be interesting, but it's the challenge of smooth, controlled and aware riding that I appreciate the most when on two-wheels. I really enjoy route planning and if anyone needs 'a local' to assist planning in the Calgary-to-Kamloops-Jasper triangle, I am happy to help identify major/minor routes, local bike shops, fuel stops, etc.
Another Albertan. That is the same as saying another Texan. Well anyways, welcome to the forum. Don't tell anyone you are Canadian. One Of these fine days I would love to come to Calgary. I love that place and would like to move there but my wife doesn't do winter. We have a few from Calgary here. We used to have a member map bit that seems to have disappeared with the last site upgrade. But yeah. Post up some pix for sure.
Canada eh?? Welcome to the nut house!! I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet but we'd love to see some pics of your new toy!! Rollin
