So for the past few months i have been experiencing a problem. I key on and hit the start button and the starter solenoid will click loudly and nothing will happen. This happens probably once out of a dozen times. I thought that my starter was on its way out because I found that if I bump start the bike slightly (ie not a proper bump start but rather just rocking the bike forward and dumping the clutch so the engine turns slightly) then I could press the starter and the bike would fire right up. I figured that the starter was beginning to short out. But the more I think about it the less it makes sense because the starter is isolated from the rotation of the engine by the starter clutch. Any ideas ? Btw the bike has a brand new battery and the charging system has already been sorted out.
