Has anyone here tried to recolor a stock seat with interior vinyl dye? I'm redoing the paint and I'd like the seat to match or at least be other than blueish purple. The seat is in great shape, good padding and material... I'm just wondering how well a black dye will cover the stock color and if it'll bleed in the rain... Cracking would suck too... I've never used the stuff but it's alot cheaper than springing for a new cover. I hope to have pics of the paint soon, He finished the primer sealer today... Thanks James
Hi guys! I have used an aerosol spraycan of black vinyl dye on my bike. The pillion cover fairing was originally blue, but after a couple of coats it is great. The advice came from a parts dealer who restores car interiors and does customising work. No signs of wear so far!
Update I broke down and dyed the seat tonight... I think the prep work probably helped. I used a toothbrush to scrub in a lather of dish soap to break everything up and wiped it off with paper towels, then wiped it off with a wet paper towel to get all the soap. Last, I wiped it down with alcohol and then sprayed it with flat black DupliColor dye. It looks great, I just hope that it holds up... I'll update as soon as I ride it a bit. Thanks for the advice
