Can anyone enlighten me on the instrument switches. I have not had the 02 long and the previous owner missplaced the owners manual:frown: . I have a downloaded service manual but cannot find a reference to the switches. I worked out the basic functions of, outer temp/engine temp, odometer/trip a/trip b and setting the time.
I'm at a loss as to what the mid switch under the tacho does? Is this a reserve tank switch or ?

My 06 doesn't have a switch under the tach. It does have a small round "crater" in the plastic where a switch or something may have been on previous year models. If there is a switch there it may be something put there by the previous owner. Any 02 riders got a switch there??
The bike doesn't have a "reserve" either, the fuel level bar goes to red when the level gets to a low level.

Just for another 2 cents. I have an 04, and there is not switch under the tach. not even a place in the plastic for one.

I have the spot on my '07 as well, but nothing there. I wondered whether it was an ABS light or something since mine is the non-ABS model.

This is the culprit I speak of, the middle one. It feels like a micro switch same feel as the other two

My '07 has a "dent" in the dash where yours has a switch. My owners manual doesn't show a switch there.

Interesting V4Bluey. That is where my '02 US model has the indent, but no switch. The switch you have looks like its probably factory, but small chance that its aftermarket.

I don't think mine has that "HISS" (?) on the Tach. Whats that?

HISS is a ignition Anti theft device that comes stock on a lot of honda bikes across either pond. I had never heard of their being a switch tied to it though, mostly it's all about the key, you have to have the right one that has an electronic tag inside it. :ballchain:

Wish we had those here in the states, but then again it won't help against someone with a van:eek:

HISS, from what I believe, it is a system shutout (anti theft device). You need the correct key for the bike, otherwise it don't go. If you get a key cut from your old one, it won't go, If you change the ECM (computer) it still won't go. If you need another key it has to come from the factory and I presume you would have to prove ownership.
Ps there is also a flashing light there, like some cars have to tell it has the anti theft device.

All correct, thought all VFR's had HISS but clearly not, on all euro spec bikes i know that, a new key is about $160 lol
