    I'm 6'2" and an athletic 200# and ride a 2002 VFR.

I'm wondering if any 6th gen. riders have made any mods which have increased the distance from the seat to the pegs? I'm not suggesting lowering the pegs necessarily, but maybe a somewhat taller seat?

When I'm riding for a couple of hours, the difference between the ball of the foot on the pegs and heel on the pegs is enough to give my knees less of a bend which translates into more comfort.

I'm 6'1 riding on a 5th gen and weighing in around 191-196. I think our ergos are close (5th and 6th) but not sure. I have Helibars which raise me up a bit, but I have never ridden the VFR stock so I dunno the comparison. I have noticed some minor cramping in the knees on occasion and sometimes the bike feels just a tad short, but I don't think I would want to sit up higher or lower the pegs. I have even considered changing the pegs to rearsets, but Im sure I would feel more cramped then... I was thinking, my sitting position is probably even more different than stock since I have a sargent seat. it seems like I read that it sits a little shorter. I have wondered if the CBR XX would fit better myself, but I'm a big fan of the VFR after riding it for 6-7k miles...

    THANKS NVR!

Man, that was one long thread! Looks like they still don't have any product after all the talking!

Maybe I need boots with thinner soles  !!

I'm a short dude so I don't have to worry about lowering the pegs, but the first peg mod was accomplished by modifying a set of Buell pegs to fit the VFR. You can use "Buell" as the search word in VFRD to find that thread.

One VFRD's members has machinist experience and came up with a better design though, and offered to make them which is how the group buy started. I remember reading that he recently fired one of his machinists, which apparently is why the pegs aren't finished yet. I believe they are close though, so hopefully you can still get a set.

I'm 6' with long legs so I can sympathize. After a few hrs the knees get sore.

I would recommend a custom / taller seat with bar risers before lowering the pegs. You would end up dragging them all over the place, which is potentially hazardous to your health. I would opt not to reduce the performance envelope if possible.

Not a cheap fix unfortunately. The only bikes that come to mind with longer ergos are the older "standards" such as the CB750F, 900F and 1100F Hondas. I suppose that some of the Beemers may have more leg room as well while still keeping a sporting posture.

I'd be interested to hear what you come up with. I'm a little over 6'4" and about 235. I've got Heli bars and like the ergos. As far as the pegs go I do the same thing as you. When I start to feel cramped I slide my boots forward. I rode a buddy's ZX-12R and it had more leg room but it felt like I was perched on top of the bike. The handling felt weird also, like it wanted to fall in to turns.

Stuff the bottum of yer pants :p

Upulsterers can stack an extra couple of inches of padding in there. You wouldn't want to do that to your Corbin or Sargeant, but I can see someone redoing thier stocker in leather with more padding.

Most people drop thier pegs for more leg room. I know I need too.

I installed Thurn adjustable footpegs after giving up on the long-promised Busy Little Shop version. Lowest position adds about an inch of legroom. May not seem like much, but the difference is really significant on a long ride. No more need to stetch my legs every 45 minutes or so. Plus you can switch them up and back for track days.

I had considered adapting Buell pegs, but I didn't want to mess with the machine work. I've read too many posts about them breaking. Perhaps they break from too much metal being taken off to fit them to the VFR brackets.

The Thurn pegs are expensive, but the quality is excellent. Arrived registered air mail from Germany in about three days. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hond...017QQitemZ270005149196QQrdZ1#ebayphotohosting

these actually look pretty interesting to me. It's got me thinking about upgrading my existing pegs.

    Good thinking, Florida!

I like the look of those Thurn. Not cheap, but they seem pretty versatile.

How's the grip on them? I use Alpinestars (cant remember the model) boots when I ride, and I wonder if the Thurn's grip as well as the stock pegs with the rubber on them?>

    Wow! Lots of questions...

Grip: Just as good as stock; perhaps better. There are ridges machined into to top of the peg. I usually wear Sidi Vertigo Corsa Air boots. I also have Joe Rockets with a very different sole. Both boots grip very well on Thurn pegs.

My height and inseam: 5' 7" and 29" respectively. I'm not sure I can relate to the problems you tall guys have, but if I needed more leg room you guys must be miserable. By the way, I have a Sargent set which actually seems a little taller than stock.

Vibration: None. Not even when the VTech kicks in.

My stock '05 was perfect for a day trip, cramped on a weekend trip and downright painful on a two week trip. My solution was Convertibars (combined with longer clutch, brake and throttle lines for maximum rise and pullback), a Zero Gravity Sport Touring windscreen (about 3" taller than stock with a little kick-up at the top), the Sargent seat and Thurn adjustable pegs. Now my VFR is more comfortable than an ST1300. And I can still drop the bars, raise the pegs and swap the screen for track days.
