    Greetings VFR Forum Folk,

I've decided on the VFR as my retirement reward, love the black 2006, but also like to get latest product for improvements. I'd really appreciate hearing if the 2007 and 2008 VFRs have been upgraded or if I'd be getting the same machine (just a bit longer in the tooth, and a little cheaper) going with the 2006.

Many thanks in advance for your comments!

For the most part the current VFR hasn't been upgraded since the 05 version from what I can tell, other than some vtec miss Qs being straighten out. Correct me if I'm wrong 6th gen owners. Strong rumor has it 09 is the year things may go astray ;) one can only hope.

The bikes are pretty much the same, however, that RWB for '07 looks GREAT, if you can find one.

For 2007 the indicator lenses changed to clear and I think the VTEC cut in RPM was lowered slightly (though that may have been a year earlier? )

    Jeff:

I'd think you are good to go with any of the 6th Gen years, but the 06-08 are basically the same bike with different paint / stickers on the plastic. Find the best deal you can and then take a can of black primer to the bike's panels and you'll have the assfault black bike, now if you want the glossy black, that's harder

If you are looking for a used bike, the hard cases (side and/or top) have been great utility for me on my commute and runs around town for stuff.

Good luck on your retirement gift.

    VFR Folk,

Many thanks for the feedback. I agree that black is the fastest colour!

The clear lenses and lowered VTEC activation came in with the 06 model.

I've heard the stripes on the RWB make it more aerodynamic:wink:.

The red makes it fast though:wink:

Seriosly the 2006 is a great bike, I looked at a black before I got my RWB and I could have saved some $$$ but someone bought it before I got the chance. I am happy I have an anniversary model though, the colors are awesome in the sunlight. The vtech stuff did get adjusted in 2006. It is not as hard hitting now and some like that, some don't. I try to get above the transition before I start into a corner anyway. The only hitch I see with these bikes is the fuel injection settings create a snatchy throttle. I've been in maintenance throttle leaned into the corner and rolled onto a big spike of throttle response. Mr sphincter noticed real quick and I may need a power commander now to manage that response or my seat will be forever reshaped..... And I don't want to fall and ruin that paintjob!!!

A guy with an 02 offered to let me ride it around town last week (AWESOME), I found a dealer with a new 06A today, and will close the deal tomorrow.

Soon to be the proud father of a new baby!

Thanks Jason. Gonna add Helibars but otherwise leave it stock, for now. The hardest part will be leaving it laid up until the snow clears next spring. Hmmm, I wonder how it would ride with chains... :smow:

I went looking this fall, and found that there are plenty of '06 bikes still on showroom floors with zero miles. The dealers are asking $8K, for non-ABS. The '06 is the same hardware as the '07, and to my understanding, no change for '08.
I conclued it was a buyers market. I came home on an '06, with change in my pocket.

I've called a few dealers in NY today and couldn't find a single 2006 bike with ABS.
