Im sure this has been discussed before but I need some help in lowering the seat height of my 06 VFR, I have had it since new and have managed to put only 10000km on it but I have had it with being vertically challenged. This is only an issue when I am stopped or moving out of or into my garage or parking spaces. I figure 1-2 inches would do the trick. I finally droped my bike in my garage which I am going to blame completely on this proplem, ha ha. I don't want to mess up my suspension and handling but if anybody knows of a good way to acheive this and lower my seating height that would be great. Im also tired of looking like a dork only being able to put one foot on the ground when im at a set of lights. Any help would be great.
Check this out...http://vfrworld.com/forums/suspensi...6th-gen-triangle-flip.html?highlight=lowering The search function is your friend.
i'm only 5'4" and have learned to manage both '86 and '97 VFRs with minimal probs......... the more miles u ride, the lower and smaller the bike feels
Thanks for the help. I guess part of the problem for me is that prior to '06 and owning a VFR I rode a Suzuki cruiser so I got spoiled by being able to have both feet flat on the ground while sitting on my bike. Oh well all in time.
I am also 5'4 and own a 5th gen. Squirrelman is correct, the more you ride the smaller it gets. You should always have one foot on the ground and the other on the back brake when stopped anyway. My foot that is on the ground is pretty much on its toes but I got used to it, and I don't think I look like a dork, be proud to be on that bike. If I have to move my bike in the garage or tight spaces like parking spaces I do it off the bike, or use my "tiptoes" to balance. Balance yourself and go slow in these spots. Ride well.
Those are some great looking boots but I think I will pass I do however no the rule re:left foot down and right foot on the rear break, But at long lights or traffic jams I put the bike in neutral and sit up.
I would contact Sargent seat because they will do custom work of that type, here is a link -paly no attention to what the link says. Heated Motorcycle Clothes Heated Clothes Chilli Heated Clothes Chilli Heated Vest Chilli Heated Motorcycle Vest
i'm 5' 4 1/2 and have my left foot on the ground while my right foot is on the foot brake. it is a little difficult to back up so i get off the seat and pull it. was fortunate to buy a custom seat by rick meyer for only$25! (craigslist) which helped lower the seat height by about an inch.
Ok, check it out! I am 5' 5 inches and I was never completly comfortable on my 2006 VFR. I got the Heli bars and the tank bag etc I just didn't really feel comfortable. So I customized my seat. Now I will have to tell you that I am not afraid of failure, I play golf, so don't try this if you are anal. Do however get a custom seat. I got use to the stoping and starting, however I just couldn't handle the bike while feeling like I was on top of it. Since lowering my seat .......WWWW---OOOOO-----WWWWW does this baby respond. I now seat down in the bike and I can lean and make her dance. If someone would have explained this to me before then I would have bought a custome seat for a thousand dollars of more.....wow what a difference.
