Hey VFR world it has been a while, for those of you who don't know me I joined the forums documenting a full VFR rebuild and just when the intial build was completed my wife was diagnosed with cancer and wasnt given much time to live so I had to put the bike on hold.

Well she beat it and is 100% cancer free, I have a new respect for that woman and I'm very proud of her.

In the mean time the other woman in my life sat in the garage for over a year with an occasional start and finally the fuel pump just died so she sat, and she sat, and she sat. Finally 2 days before I moved to San Diego ( been here 2 weeks ) my buddy Weller and I decided enough was enough we changed the pump put a charge on her and she been strong every since I am back on the road. ( Remember we did our 1st carb rebuild from this forum and not 1 hiccup)

This has to be 1 of the most resiliant bikes I have ever owned she refuses to fade into a memory. Only issue I have now is I got to upgrade my mirrors all i see in them are my shoulders and in this traffic thats a no no.

I will keep you guys posted on how she does becoming my daily rider again but with this weather down here and gas prices she may be becoming my only rider. See you guys in the forums its good to be back.

    Wow.......

Welcome back. And I am thankful for the good news of your wife. I went through hell for a month several years ago with a cancer scare, but it was just that. A scare. To actually live it like your wife has, and you for that matter, is nothing short of courageous.

Keep the high spirits and make the second woman and honest one.

Welcome back. I'm glad your wife is healthy. Cancer affects us all - families too. I know my little sister had a fight with breast cancer . She went through all the treatment. Recently she had some marks lesions on her neck and as a big brother I was concerned. She had a pet scan that revealed she was still cancer free - just a minor infection of lymph nodes. I hope they find a cure for it. One day I hope everyone will be able to respond favorably to some type of treatment .

good to hear she fought the good fight and won out. Now just make sure she goes out with you from time to time and enjoys life - looks like she got a second lease on it.

words can't describe how glad I am that you still have the most important thing in your life.

as for the mirrors, pop em off, stick the mount end in a tube and bend them a little bit so they lay down a little. Had to do it on my 500.

Man talk about being away, 2 years later here I am back for the 2nd time and I'm really back this time, since I 1st posted this we have had 2 more rounds of Chemo and radiation treatment but as of 2 Monday's ago she is in full remission, we are really on the path to recovery. I no longer reside in Lemoore I live in San Diego now and I haven't seen this place on a bike yet, my VFR is down starter is gone and until this week I hadn't had time to work on her, if you guys remember Weller he's stationed in Japan so I'm solo right now but that;s not keeping me down. In a bid to get back on the road I found a mint 99 VFR freshly posted on craigs list and I had it removed right after. Waiting for the funds to clear accounts and she's coming home with me. I love my 86 but until I can do a suspension upgrade she is going to stay garaged a while. I missed you guys but I had to take care of my girl. DOn't know how many of the fella's are here but I'll stop by daily to check on ya.

Thank all you guys for the support, I been gone off and on for so long a lot of these replies I'm just reading for the 1st time, and it feels good even now to to look back and see the support, we went through a lot guys and had some battles, just when I thought I was back we would have another set back, she would be in the clear and then back to treatment, so I just focused on family, now fast forward to now and we are back to normal with some new twist, the wife has been in remission and she is in college, she wants to be a nurse and help others that are going through what she went through, I'm back from duel jaw surgeries (long story will only explain if someone is interested). It's winter time and I'm in full bike fever mode, I want to ride so bad but I don't have one piece of winter gear, so now I'm balancing bike upgrades and trying to get a piece of winter gear here and there, let me tell you though it hard making these kind of decision's, I had the money saved for an all weather Jacket and low and behold my front tire did some weird warp thing so that decision was easy safety 1st but I even cut back on lunch at work to catch this sale at cycle gear for that jacket, but if that's any indication of where I am right now, when your stuck in what can I buy this week mode that means your back and I really missed you guys. I need Toe Cutter got a FI indicator light issue, I posted over at the 5th gen forum but not getting no love over there. I believe Toe has a FI model also, if anyone has knowledge on the 99 VFR let me know.
