A quick intro was suggested so here we are. I'm in Dallas, TX and exploring a possible 8th gen VFR800. Being 5' 4" and a 28" inseam, one could say that I'm vertically challenged. However, I manage to ride a '12 Triumph Street Triple R (Black w/Gold Forged Wheels, sweet!) and am quite a sight at stops and walking my bike out of every parking spot. I love this bike and its handling, smooth triple engine and tons of accessible torque. Downside? No fairing, precarious to balance in certain daily commute scenarios, and could never go two up. I mostly commute when riding my bike and despite good intentions, don't see track days in my future until my toddler gets a bit older. So, I'm looking at a VFR800 as a better ride for easy commutes and the occasional spirited weekend ride. I hope to get good input from folks here so that I make a well informed decision. Thanks in advance for all of your feedback. -John
Welcome to the forum. Love the Street Triple. Beautiful, classic looking bikes with character-ridden engines. How about a pic of that bike? :eagerness:
:welcome: to the world You could lower the VFR some and have an upholstery shop cut some foam out the seat to help with the height....
welcome welcome to the crazy wacky world of VFR owners One suggestion would be you could throw out a Hi to anne-marie here, she's around your size and did something to the seat. 90% is in understanding why a bike does what it does, yes it's more a balancing act and all, but once you're in sinc it becomes pretty much first nature. Hint takes time. practice practice practice.
Welcome aboard, Texas! The VFR is a very versatile bike - it doesn't really excel at anything in particular other than being able to do just about everything well enough. It's kind of a jack of all trades but a master of none. It's a fun bike as a result.
