I've noticed that my left ankle is getting hot when I'm riding. The source of the extra warmth seems to be the swing arm. Should the swing arm be that hot? The catalytic converter is just under the swing arm, but is not in physical contact with it. Puzzled I am.

    It's a 2000.

The heat is probably coming from the frame, but not having the same year model as you, I cannot rule out the swingarm getting hot.
