Just a quick hello as I'm new to this site....a very good site it is too. I had a '96' (in 96) 750 for three years and 27,000 miles and am now taking out an '06' on Saturday for the day to see what's it's like. I have at the moment got a Honda CB1300 but I now want comfort of the CB, better handling and more weather protection for motorway use. So what do you reckon? am I making the wright choice? (have to say I can't wait for Saturday) ((can't get the big grin smilie to work!)) Regards to all...
Hi bobster. Welcome to the group. I think you will like the 06 VFR. The VFR is a good all around bike. Most find it very comfy, some change the seat to a Corbin or Sargent brand. There are other things, like bar risers, that can also make it more suitable to the riders tastes, but overall, I would say its a great choice in bikes.
Welcome to the group, bro. You'll be hard pressed to find an impartial opionion from this crew. We are all pretty convinced we chose the right bike.
I am an engineer so I just had to test everything around and studdy things till I must have driven all the shops nuts (typical bloody engineer). In the end I figured if you have only one bike the viffer was it. Gave very serious consideration to the Triumph Sprint but a little to aggressive riding position for my aging back (and difficult to change). Also looked very seriously at the Honda ST1300 but decided it was just to big and heavy for city use. Also looked seriously at the Yamaha FJR1300 but thought the wind protection was poor and too much heat from the engine although Yamaha claims to have fixed this. Also a little big for city use. Final choice the viffer and I love it:smile: . On long straight rides I sometimes wish I had the ST 1300 but I have got things pretty well set up for me know with a taller screen and handlebars. Can I think of a better bike for my use now? NO. Would I change? NO. The viffer has character, something missing from so many bikes. Well thats my two pennies worth. Keep the rubber on the road.
Thanks guys... somehow I reckoned that you would all be slightly biased:wink: I looked at the ST1300 aswell, oh and the CBX1100XX, I reckon the XX is now a little dated looking (yes I know its a great bike) and the ST is on the large side for what I want. However tomorrow I am taking out an '06' viffer for the day, and should it not be as good, or even better than I remember my '96' I may look at the ST again (the shop has a nice '05' ST with 9000 miles). I must admit I really want the viffer to be good:smile: I'll let you know the outcome....
