    Hi people,

I'm Jamie and Im from the midlands in the UK. Believe it or not I'm 20 years old and just bought an 07 Honda VFR800 VTEC :D
    [IMG]

My dad had several 750's when I was young, always loved the V4 sound, the look of the bike and the power delivery (when I had a chance to go pillion). So thought to buy one as a step up from the SV650 I had.

Very happy with the bike (too quite for me.... at the moment ;)) The only problem I have is sometimes when the bike is cold and I set off, the tickover raises from the 2.5k revs to 4k revs for a short moment. Could probs be down to either it standing for a bit before I bought it, or confusing the ECU when I'm putting it under load when cold....?

Thats enough of me blabbing on anyway :)

    Cheers

    Jamie

welcome to the site. the prob you are stating, is that just when it's warming up? the bike has an auto-enrichener (sp?) to get her warm. That's what it sounds like to me.

    Hi,
Yep, it only happens when warming up, is fine after that.
If i leave it ticking over when standing its ok, its only when its under load.

    Welcome aboard
I agree with Reg. Probably just due to the cold running map in the computer.

Welcome to the site. English is English except when someone is speaking English. We find that there are terminologies that differ a bit from region to region. I am bilingual. I speak Engliush and Gutterese.

Nice looking and "very shiney" ride you got there. Hope you like washing it seeing as it is black. Get a good coat of wax on it befroe you ride it much. MqGuires makes a great yellow wax that I find to be incredibly tough. It will certainly protect that nice luster you have on that black bike. Mine has preety much lost its shine on the tank but then I have over 115,000 km on it so I guess that can be expected.

Cool that you dad had such bikes. My dad drove a Ford Custom 500 4 door sedan and ended with a Ford Aerostar Van. Exciting eh?

    Cheers mate,

I have pride in keeping my bike clean, but was surprised at how easily any dirt showed up on the black paintwork! Already put a good coat of wax on it and I'm cleaning every possible part I can get my hand in! Rear wheel is alot easier to clean with a single sided swinger :)

My dad's very jealous of me right now.... maybe that'll give him a kick up the backside to get a bike again!

VFR also came with panniers and a topbox so I can start thinking about trips round europe now!!

Just a crappy phone pic. But the wax has given a deep shine to the paint and the metal flake bits show up quite nicely..... will be lovely to look at in the sun (when we have it for about 2 secs in the summer :(.)

welcome to the world. If your gonna have a conversation with Reg your gonna have to stick a Missouri accent on it for him to really understand what you are saying....LOL
(sorry reg couldn't resist) any way , congrats on the bike take care of her and she will last you for years....and years.... If your 20 that probably puts your father around about 40 something.... perfect age to get a newer VFR.....
