Hi all. New here. Soon to be new to the VFR.

Shook hands on a deal for a 2002 VFR (Red) with only 3900 miles. Looks like it just rolled out of the showroom.

Just waiting on the title from California to pick it up.

It'll be my first owned street bike. I've ridden a GSXR-750 for several weeks and loved it. I come from a dirt bike background and have owned an RM250 and a YZ490.

I'm taking it nice and slow, as I'll be 40 this year and have 3 teenagers at the house. The economics of 45 mpg is the primary reason for wanting the bike, but the fun-factor a "just a little" to do with it as well. I'll be commuting roughly 75 miles round trip a day.

I'm scheduled to take the MSF course next week and have no desire to be pulling stand-up wheelies at 90mph on the freeway. I've already got head-to-toe gear and plan on wearing it always. I'm sure that after I get a few miles on the bike I'll go back for the advanced rider course as well.

I'm just hoping to have a very long and lasting relationship with one of the prettiest motorcycles I've ever seen.

Well, that's about it for now. Just wanted to stop in and say "hi".

Can't find a better place to cut through the proverbial "crap" and get the low down on this bike.

    Cya all around.

Congrats on your new (to you) Viffer. I'm sure you will enjoy it as well as this site. Alot of good people and info here.

That's the primary reason I bought my bike; to commute (70mi RT) and fun factor. So let the fun begin!

for what you are describing, you made a very good choice. welcome to the board. I'm not sure if you could find a more devoted fanbase on a motorcycle, and if so, not a japanese bike.

congratulations on your new purchase and welcome!
i hope your VFR brings you as many smiles as it has for so many of us.

as for economy, don't fool yourself too much, cost of tires and maintenance makes their economy close to a wash for many.

luckily for you, the fun factor had 'just a little' influence in your decision too:tongue:

    Enjoy!
