I have a 90 vfr 750. It's been sitting for about 3 yrs. So I replaced the fuel filter cleaned the tank out, pulled the carbs apart and cleaned also replaced slow and fast jets, timed the carbs together. The bike is hard starting and will not go above 105mph at 10,000 rpm. It also is backfiring when coming down of the throttle. Any one have any idea's.

are you positive that you got the right size jets? i really cant think of anything else. it sounds like you've got all the bases covered... you did the tank, carbs, and filter, but what about all the lines that connect everything together? also did you change the spark plugs as well? even if the plugs look fine they can be shot. three ingredients: air, fuel and spark...
