Hi folks. So, i'm doing an electric conversion of an 85 Interceptor. As part of that, i need to remove the engine. I've got the clymer book and have been parting out things so far. However, the clymer book says to remove the following items, and i'm just not sure it's necessary when i'm removing the entire engine. Can you tell me if I really do need to remove the following: alternator clutch external shift mechanism starter motor I'll probably remove that stuff at some point, but in terms of strictly getting the engine out of the bike, do i need to remove those things? Thanks! ...tango...
Typical Clymers. No: # alternator,# clutch Disconnect all wiring, fuel lines, air box, cooling hoses, radiators, cables, shifter, chain and exhaust. Take out all bolts then left sub frame. Motor now falls out.
You will need to remove the carbs as well. You can get it out with them on but it is not worth the fight.
Thanks! i've got most of that off (except the chain), and also the carbs. Looks like i'm closer than i thought! Just wondering, what else about the Clymers book should i worry about? It's been pretty helpful (but i'm a noob, so i don't have much of a point of reference). Thanks a bunch! ...tango...
