i am sad to report that unless you have a half helmet, or a tiny head, you wont be getting a helmet in the side cases... they will fit my lunchbox and a 14" laptop...

still would be nice to not have to have a back pack

That sux. You must have a huge head!
I've never heard of this issue before...good to know for others!!

Are these OEM cases? GIVI? Pelicans?

I have an XS Helmet. Maybe that fit? Thinking of side cases in future. Why you still be needing backpack?

the OEM cases, the back pack is for my work laptop... which is significantly larger than my 14" one... maybe an extra change of clothes for the backpack, i dont plan on having the side cases on all the time, it makes it more cumbersome

I too just discovered this today on my first ride. I have the OEM panniers and a Shoei RF1100 (large) and it wont fit into either case, no matter how many different positions that I tried :( Oh well, I was still able to use them to bring home goodies that I picked up at the dealership though ;)

That is disappointing. Does anyone know if the factory top case will fit an XL Shoei Qwest?

I always fit my helmet in my tank bag. I leave the other stuff to the soft saddle bags and tank bag.

This is one of the reason I did not went with OEM.

Shad side cases will fit a full-face helmet and (at least in canada) were way cheaper.

My Wolfman tank bag allows me to put the helmet (Xlarge) in as well a 12pk if the helmet is on my noggin! I have had this bag for 12yrs and no issues with the quality or stitching of the bag. Killer company out of Colorado and I suggest that all of you look at this company if you are looking for luggage other that the OEM hard bags. the OEM's no matter how much I want them do not allow me to have the bike in my single garage with the my car. I also think that soft bags give you much more flexibility in fair riding weather (Moderate rain and temp) than the hard bags. I never ride anywhere where I do not take off the bags if I am on a long ride. Hotel (Rarely) or camping (in my tent). "Jeni" always has a watchful eye on her and her gear Via a "HK P30" while out in the outlands.

There are members here that make it sound like they never take their helmets off, so they are ready to ride at a moments notice..

Yes it does. That would be the draw back to it. Sides are 33liter thought. Multiple choices for the top case.

Try looking in Europe. The 45 l is cheaper than the 33l
