Hello VFR types, I am Tom N, I live in Dayton, Tx. I want to buy a new bike, something I have never had. I have a lot of experience with older bikes ('70-'80s) so I am not new to motorcycling. I own a very nice 1984 VF 1000F a 1980 CBX and a few other bikes. I am really trying to decide what I want and what fits my needs, looking at what I consider "sport tourers". My heart says buy a zero mile 2007 VFR to match my '84 VF1000F but my head says buy something more like a Kawasaki Concours 14. Being an older guy, I do not want to be contorted into an uncomfortable riding position so most "sport bikes" are out. Newest bike I have owned or ridden was a '95 CB1000 so I am a little out of touch with modern machinery which makes the decision harder. Been reading a lot of threads, appreciate the site, keep up the good work. Cheers, Tom
Might consider the Honda ST ... more Tour than Sport but better for 2 up riding and better ergonomics .
St1300 Thanks for the comments, I have thought about an ST, I will not be doing any 2 up. But I am a little concerned about ergos on a VFR, was thinking about a set of Heli bars to help that problem. My riding will be mostly short trips 200-300 miles a day, max of 550-600 very rarely. I am torn between waiting on the new VFR (1000 or 1200) and getting a 2007 RWB (and save a few thousand $$). The RWB would look so nice next to my '84 VF. Cheers, Tom
The concourse will nicely roast your inner thighs... it is a screamer and will amaze your friends, but having ridden both, and still owning the G6 VFR, gotta say, it's a great machine. and since you will "rarely" two up, you probably won't miss the 1400cc's. now. that being said, if the toasted thighs issue was worked out, might be tempted... the ST doesn't move the soul. not even a twitch. the FJR is pretty damn nice... i do keep eyeballing one now and then... but then i climb aboard the VFR, and damn....... i'm remain very very happy. heli bars are good.
