Greeting from Colorado... after 20+ years I finally got the VFR that I've wanted but could never afford.... a 1986 VFR700 red, white and blue.
After riding with a friend years ago... I too was intoxicated by the sound. I bought it from a co-worker who had not ridden it for several years,
and dropped it in his garage moving things around which broke some of the plastic body work. He wanted $200.00 for it... so I decided to splurge.
All this started 6 months ago... and I finally got it running. After riding it to work a couple of days ago... I noticed that the back of my legs got
pretty warm.... so I'm wondering if it might be a good idea to install a manual fan switch. Any idea how I can do this? Thanks and look forward to
    sharing with the "world."

Welcome to the wold of wacky crazy vfr lovers, Nice score for only 200 pesos for that you did very well. on the heat that's pretty typical of these vfrs where the rear exhaust routes around, more a case of getting use to it. One thing you might look into if you haven't just so it doesn't bite you, is to look at the voltage regulator, those go out more than not, so look over all the wiring connections making sure all is good and clean. might also if you have a multi meter is to check voltage still and at start up, this will give you a good idea where things are. From that, less finding parts, and decent 16" rubber for the front, these are a great bike, enjoy it like you stole it, which you did. Yea, ain't he engine sound just marvelous Oh, one more thing, you know what they say, no photos, didn't happen ;)

    Welcome to the zoo.

It's heartwarming to see all these new members breathing life back into these "old" classics.
