    Hi All,

Had a '94VFR for ten years. LOVED it! Sold it in '07 with 50k miles. Needed something with a little more acceleration. But alas, there was a void in my heart. This past week, I rekindled 'the love' with an '00 VFR. Always liked the yellow and found one locally with just under 16k miles, stock but also came with a Corbin. Owner was selling because he had no garage... and he had no garage cuz his house burned down. Sad. So, he had no maintenance records, owner's manual etc.

Bike had the tool kit but, I found during the first detailing that the kit is missing the lug wrench and the handle extension bar. Been checkin' ebay but, no luck finding just those items. Any suggestions besides going to a dealer?

I've read a few of the reg/rec threads. My '94 stranded me in the middle of "nowhere", UT back in '01, frying most everthing just as the sun was setting and a rain storm was approaching. Funny how you know precisely when you're vacation is ending and your adventure is beginning. Five days and ... $1,600 later (still pains me to recall that), I limped the bike home (via VEGAS! ;-). Never trusted her again after that. Surprised that there are similar issues on subsequent gens. Sheesh. I like the suggestion of buying the new-improved r/r and storing the stock one. Excellent idea. Oh, and I've read thru the sport/sport-touring... tire threads. Appreciate all the info. I ordered tires - but, I ain't tellin' what I got!

It's great to have a V4 back in the stable. Lovely bike! Seems that it would benefit from some better suspenders tho. Looking forward to contributing to the group!

Welcome to the forum - get some stinkin pictures posted! I love the yellow one too.

Maybe try calling around to a couple motorcycle salvage yards? I imagine the tool kit isn't the first thing they throw up on their ebay stores and they might have one sitting on a skeleton out back.

welcome to the site, and for sure come on up and ride with us. I get down that way a bit, too. Also, I just use a socket and socket wrench for taking off my rear tire...

    Hey From Santa Barbara . . . !

Hiya from Santa Barbara. Sold my '99 VFR a couple of years ago and have been seriously regretting it ever since. Lived in Hawaii for a while, but am back now and with a serious commute to Mugu every day, it's time to get back into the VFR fold.

Because of the way I rode at the time I usually averaged about 35MPG. Now that I'm older, wiser and a little slower, I imagine my mileage will improve, but I am curious about what people are seeing under normal commuting usage.

    Thx

Welcome aboard. I love the yellow, but I might get jealous if we end up in a group ride together.

I should be able to share the glory, though.

    Another VFR

CalCoast has a new, 2007 25h anniversary VFR that I am drooling over. Just saw it on Tuesday. It's on the floor for $3K less than new. Still mulling over that one . . .

On a Kawasaki KLR 650 right now - just not the same. :)

Alright, sorry to go 'silent' for awhile. I've put on tires, changed the oil, bled the brakes front & rear, installed EBC pads in the front, rebuilt the left side control switch (temporarily lost the detente bearing - DOH!), cleaned bulb contacts and relay contacts, applied dielectric grease..., removed front and side fairings to clean/dust/remove spiders and their webs, etc. Still need to bleed the clutch. On street & highway, I'm averaging 42 mpg on my '00. Still waitin' on a new OEM air filter to arrive.

My stock windscreen is kinda splotchy - previous owner used something weird to clean it or perhaps, it just degraded outdoors. Planning to get an aftermarket screen and new (improved?) reg/rect after the holidays.

Crusty - Yah, I think that coulda been me in the blue jacket in Old Town Goleesha! Usually ride up Hwy 33 on Sunday mornings after breakfast in Ojai with a group of 'veteran' riders. If you're interested in joining one of these weekends, lemme know.

Gettin' on this VFR800 reminds me SOOOO much of my old '94 750. Ahhh, just like an old pair of jeans!

Usually b'fast at Cafe Emporium (by Chevron in Ojai), then head up the hill to Wolf's. A few of us meet up either at the Daily Grind or my place nearby around 7:30-ish, then meet the larger group by the old Miramar site ~8am-ish.

Definitely riding tomorrow but, unsure of which 'horse.'

That's a good problem to have.

Yea, the place right of 101 in Ventura. Nice selection of bikes. I haven't checked out our own SB Honda, but they're small, and I have never been particularly impressed with the service . . .
