Hi to everybody. I am from Lisbon, Portugal and I own a 1994 VFR 750 with 63.000 Km. I have been riding bikes on almost a daily base for more that 20 years and had quite a few of all styles. This is my second VFR, I had a 1991 VFR400R some 17 years ago, if I still had it today I would never ever sell it!
We never had the opportunity in the US to buy a VFR400. I imagine it would be great in everything but long straights. How do you like your 750 compared to the 400? Welcome to the forum.
The 400 was only sold for a short time here in Portugal, but it was much more expensive than the CBR600 so everyone went for the more powerful 600. There are around 30/40 VFR400 in Portugal, from what I know. It's a fantastic little bike and it's very difficult to compare to the 750, since the 400 is much more of a sport bike, lighter and with a very aggressive riding position. If you are looking for a R and not a F, then the 400 is better in every way except on the engine power. If you like a little bit of comfort and not having wrist pains after some miles, then forget the 400. Get the best of both together and we have one of my dream bikes, that I never got to see live: the VFR750R.
