Hello great site:thumbsup: I m ready to buy my first VFR 800 VTEC after getting a run on my friends 2006 model, loved it,sound was amazing with stock pipes, my question is: i can get a good deal on a 2005 Vtec with no Abs,what i want to know is should i save my money for the upgraded 2006 model or is there no real difference with the newer version, im referring more to the vtec kicking in and smooth running of the newer version, any help?

Welcome to the site. Great choice of bike.

VFR model years 2002-09 are identical except different colour options available in different countries/regions.

As for the VTEC kicking in,

    2002-05 @ 6800 rpm
    2006-09 @ 6400 rpm

There are many varying opinions on the rpm change. It's really a personal choice. Some like, some don't. Some don't even notice the change. Either way, it's a great engine and a great ride.

The 200 or 300rpm differance in VTECH engagement is not a big deal. Those issues(if they are in fact issues) can be dealt with. Mods like going down a tooth in the front,PCIII, and others will allow you to shape the power delivary as you see fit. Close too it anyway!!

You're getting a great bike either way!!

    Cheers, and enjoy the ride!!!

Before I bought my '06 last year I downloaded every article I could find on the bike. None described the transition point at 6400 rpm to be a problem and with 17,000 klicks in the saddle I absolutely agree. This is one superb bike. You'll love it.
