hi everyone, im back with another problem on the '86 VFR700. i went to start my bike today and the headlight was out....so i started tearing it apart and got the bulb out and it looked fine, so i figured it test outlet with my multi meter. i got nothing from it. the first time i got like .015v and i turned the key off and back on and that time i got 0. then i did a continuity test on the bulb and it beeped for each of the prongs. every single other lights works, and when i push the highbeams button the highbeams light doesnt come on the display. so my question is, where do i start? its probably worth mentioning ive had problems with the wiring before. theres a silver thing under the seat with a heat sink on it, i think its the voltage regulator, the plugs on the end of that got hot and melted a little bit and it came apart and killed my battery. but i sprayed it with electrical cleaner and its been good ever since.

thanks, but i forgot to post that i solved it. it was the starter switch <.< i started thinking about everything that would cause power to be lost to the headlight and finally thought about that. all i did was push it completely down and back up a few times and it worked like new. im actually more pissed off about the solution than the problem though...i had the whole front end torn apart for that. o well. maybe itll help someone else.

I'd definitely go through the electrosport flowchart, though. If you've burnt the wires to the regulator, there's something wrong.

Although the charging systems on these bikes is just wrong from the factory, I think... The number of people with R/R problems is just way too high.
