Welcome, Innovator. I'm really interested in the responses to your questions, as I am looking for a safe place to carry my laptop, which is 365x265x40mm...

I would also be interested. I am not much of a tank bag fan...

Slightly related, but I have the Axio hard-shell backpack. It's a very nice backpack. The stiff shell makes it much more structural than a bookbag (more like a backpacking bag, but MUCH smaller). Lots of good protection for a laptop, and it's very comfortable while riding.

Although I'm moving up to hardcase luggage for laptop duty, to get the weight off of me (I carry two laptops for work...)
