Hi all i am from texas and just recently came across an 85 vfr500f. loving it... it is my 3rd bike and so far the most fun,

I traded an old car i had sitting around for it and am so far pretty glad i did,

i am wondering though ... is there any place to find lowering links or to bring seat height down a bit, i got this for my girl to learn to ride on but it sits a couple inches too high for her to be comfortable ... until then it is my toy :D

Welcome bro. I would try trimming some foam from the seat, as most other methods of dropping a bike are not worth the negative effects to ground clearance and handling.

sweet i will try that ... or just make her learn how to lean it to 1 foot without being scared .... i have a feeling i am gonna have this bike for a while ;) even though it is just a 500 it is still a pretty sweet ride, just got to do a few little things to it

    1. trace a very small oil leak
    2. redo the front fork seals
    3. new front tire
    4. find some sort of fender eliminator (i hate that thing that is on there now)
    5. restaple the poor job of seat re-apolstering(sp) that the PO did ... speaking of is there some sort of lock or bolt i have to remove to get the seat off of an 85 500?
    6. ride it like i stole it ;)

I am not sure of how to get the seat off of an '85, however, I can tell you that on some other generation VFRs (like my 5th gen) you put the key in the helmet lock, turn it, and push down a lever on the back of the helmet lock to release the seat. This probably does not apply to yours, however it is worth a look I guess.
