Hi all, I have a Garmin StreetPilot 2820 GPS and need to mount it to my 1999 VFR. Does anyone have pics or methods on mounting a GPS to my bike? I thank all in advance who replies.
    Ride safe.

Techmounts are the sexiest, but also look at the RAM mounts.

there is the duct tape and bailing wire method..... slap the GPS on the tank ,few strips of duct tape, Viola' its installed.......not responsible for paint damage if you choose this fast and inexpensive method....

I used the RAM mounts for my Garmin Nuvi 750. Worked like a champ.

I just use the suctioncup method that came with it. It mounts nicely on the tank just above the fill-hole. Put a tie-wrap around it incase it does happen to bounce off and it doesnt smoke the pavement at a hundred clicks...Oh and if it rains, a good quality zip-lock bag works good. Just poke a small hole in it for the 12V feed. As you can see, I like to go the cheapo' route!

I have a double layer Held tank bag, and it's super tall when fully assembled. I would not be able to see the GPS with both levels of the bag installed. However, I never use the top level so it's a pretty standard size tank bag, and I can see the GPS just fine.

I haven't tried the RAM std 7/8" bar mount yet, but I've heard that the bolt spacing is identical to the front tank mount bolts. Just need to have slightly longer bolts to ensure enough thread engagement. Seems like it would be a good central location too.

Duh! I just saw the link that Brit posted ---- perfect!

I use a hose clamp around the clutch master cylinder outlet fitting and the stalk of the gps mount(which i wrapped up with tape to make it non slip)..never moves, no holes, not in way of the gauges.

I already had a Blue Sea fuse panel under my seat to power other things, and ran a cigarette lighter socket from that so I can use the power cord that came with my GPS.

If you just want to power your GPS and you don't have a bunch of other accessories, you could go simple and buy a cigarette lighter socket with about a foot of wire already attached to it for under $5 (I got mine at Pep Boys). Just put ring terminals on the ends of the wire, and put in on your battery. I would splice in a fuse just to be safe. The entire cost would be about $10, and the installation is very simple.

i mounted one on my 91 vfr under the visor, i wired the adapter to the neg to the bat, and the pos to the rear light, works well, looks good!, i does block the fuel and temp gauges as well as the turn signal indicator. I also installed aftermarket led turning arrows on my mirrors, they look gr8 at night, and you can never forget to turn them off LOLO
