G'day peeps, name is Aron and live down under. Only been riding for 18 months but have owned 5 bikes already! My current road bike is a KTM 990 Superduke. It replaces my Daytona 675 which was stolen. The thing is an abolsute beast through the streets and in traffic but for me lacks a little rpm in the moutains. So I have a few project bike ideas which I'll share in another thread. In the mean time I have just picked uip my first track bike. A 1992 VFR400, complete race setup with a tuned motor and race exhaust punching out 66rwhp. Im hoping to race it in the Southern Downs and Challenge Cup series in Morgan Park next year. First track day I can make is 20 Jan so it'll be sitting in the shed taunting me for the next 5 weeks (off the record I've already had a quick run, private road of course and the little thing rips haha). Anyway thats me
Sweet ride, man. One of my favourite bikes ever. I am seriously considering this:
@Rainbow7 - Yeah mate I saw that released on the superduke forum a little while ago. Looks and sounds incredible and if it handles anything like the 990 it'll be an absolute beast. Deadset its like riding a bloody big dirt bike. I usually tear around Nebo and Glorious and easliy keep up with all the big sporties - they're great fun @TinkerinWstuff - They seem pretty popular, there was only one for sale in QLD. Im lucky I got a referral to the fella that owned it, he actually won the 400 class on this bike this year. In saying that he's been riding for 10yrs plus and his little brother is Mike jones who rides ASBK so Im not expecting to replicate it but I know I have a solid base to learn on Plus one of Tilly, may she rest in peace
Sweet!!! Not sure what to say when you say the 990 ain't got enough, It is one of the bikes I believe that takes it up a notch from the VFR ie; more power less weight = more fun. Thanks for sharing, now pass the drool rag please.
@RVFR - Haha funny you should say that! Don't get me wrong the KTM is incredible - sooo light and chuckable. It has made me a 100x better rider but the motor is just missing something for me, cant put my finger on it To be honest I dont think I'll ever be happy unless I have one of every bike in my garage. I rode the crossplane R1 today and that motor is a peach. Smooth and revvy but with enough character and torque to make it street friendly. Will ride the VFR750 and 800 tomorrow to get a good comparison.
Nar I just went straight to road bikes. I chose the KTM because I wanted a "1 bike to do all". Errands, mountains, touring and track days. Out of all the nakeds I rode (read could afford) it handled the best and had a great motor. Would highly recomend to anyone who wants to improve their 'scratch riding" haha.
You are a very quick learner. Love your bike choices. Sad about the 675.If I were to ever get something besides a Honda I think it would be that 675. I had a bike stolen before when I was living in san Diego. I kept looking around for it thinking it was a joke from someone. It took me a good while to get over the shock and realize it was gone. Sure is a crappy feeling. Welcome to the forum.
Thanks mate. I miss the Daytona a lot. I still remember the day I came downstairs to find it gone. I did the same, looked around for about 5 mins, even rang the onsite manager to see if he had moved it until it hit me like a ton of bricks!!! I was supposed to do a track day on it two weeks later (which was the day before my birthday) which made it even worse. I hope the fuckers burn in hell!!! Thanks again for the welcome
