Go Pro Mounting

Yes, they are on photobucket and appear to be showing up with my PC and on my iPad. Anyone else having trouble viewing the pics in my previous posts?

As an update, I discovered and ordered this new Gopro called the Session. It is much smaller, needs no waterproof case, shoots up to 1440HD and is a breeze to use (one button recording). And best of all, only $200.00 with a 32 GB card from Gopro. I am currently using it with a Gopro suction mount on the lower part of the windscreen and the footage is steady and has great 170 degree coverage. Since my main purpose was as a dashcam it totally fits the bill. The other Gopro was a bit bulky and I really would not use the extra capabilities all that much so not worth double the price.Link below

I have an Ion action camera and mount it on the right side of my helmet. It looks a bit goofy but not as goofy as a gopro on the top of helmets. I like that it sees basically what i see. If i turn my head it turns with me.

This is an old thread, but hopefully folks can post some good ideas.

I have a 3M GoPro base on the front fairing just under the windscreen. While it works well, it is a PITA to use, as I can't see the red light when it is recording or not and the buttons are hard to access without standing up and reaching over. I want some options that aren't behind/through the windscreen. This thread gave me some ideas.

Wondering is something could go on the mirror mount:

This is the setup I have been using for 8 years. GoPro suction mount on outside of the windscreen. I have the camera quick release mount for easy on/off and a cable securing it via the mirror in case it falls off, which has only happened 2 times in 8 years. This is also for theft prevention.

Not at all. Notice it is mounted on the outside of the windscreen well below the upper edge.

 

i've used this combo with a long bolt and spacers,

but because of the length of the mount, the video was shaky. I've also used the suction cup mount on the pillion cover, and like it better.

 

Have any of you used the Velcro wrist wrap mount on the bike (not your wrist)? It seems like an easy way to attach it to a rear peg mount, rear luggage handle, or a few other places. It provides the opportunity to mounting various place on multiple bikes without buying a ton of stuff.

 

I bought a GoPro Hero 7 several years ago with the intention of taking lots of videos that I could bore my wife with. I was really caught between mounting it on the bike, or on the helmet. I have seen a couple examples of the camera being mounted on the front of the helmet but below eye vision. I tried that but found that it kind of got in the way any time you wanted to nod your head and sometimes difficult removing your helmet.

I may have to re-attend this and get that thing mounted. It has never recorded a damned thing. I missed this posting when it was first posted. But I have my hooks into you guys now. I'm watching. Keep posting.

 

I have a 7 Black and it is perfectly good, although I've never gotten the settings just right.

Watching helmet cam video, if someone is riding properly, is really difficult because of all of the head movement checking for problems, right, left, and behind. I like the height of it, though. I have mine on fairings front and back, and mirror mounts...and the perspective is much lower, so you can't see ofer guardrails, etc.

It'll be interesting to see what you choose for locations and setting.

 

Yes. Mine is the Hero 7 Black as well. I would be interested in seeing a good photo of where and how you have yours mounted. I went out and bought all sorts of hardware to mount this thing. But truth be told, I have never really figured out how to operate the thing. I am usually a little too impatient to read instructions. But I am older now, retired and have nothing else to do so maybe I will have the time now.

I do have a roll of that real sticky rubber automotive tape. Same stuff that the car manufacturers use. Much more stronger than the stuff on the GoPro pieces. When I bout it, the price was over $100.00 a roll and man, does it stick. There is no question you need to use heat to remove that stuff. Otherwise you will pull the paint of your plastics.

 

I used the 3M double sided that came with the mounts. All of the track guys use it at nearly 200 MPH...so it works just fine.

I mounted mine on the front fairing just below the windscreen. It is fine, but turning it on/off is a PITA. I'd like it somewhere else but haven't found a good location yet. Options for me are on a steering stem post to get above the screen or on the mirror mount. I'm also going to try a power cable on my next ride. Changing batteries sucks. (I removed the fender one in the VFR pic, and also added some mounts from the other bikes.

Good luck with GoPro directions. They're worse than the YT sites and GoPro customer service...which doesn't exist.
