Getting Bent in PA

  1. Dear Abby,

Have you experienced or heard of anyone experiencing trouble with their keys turning their ignition, gas cap, or seat locks on their '03 VFRs?  Sometimes I have to "jiggle" my key for awhile just to get it to turn. This lack of cooperation has been happening alot lately and often leaves me with feelings of rejection and guilt. Abby, until recently I have always thought that my motorcycle and I have had a good and healthy relationship. We have already racked up 6500 miles together and burned down a rear tire, but I am afraid that this "key thing" is going to drive us apart. Abby, I have done everything right in this relationship. I change her oil every 4000 miles, keep her chain clean, lubed, and tight, and keep her look'in good. My motorcycle refuses to discuss "my problem" and quickly changes the subject whenever I attempt to bring it up. And to make matters worse, she offers me few clues as to the source of this rift in our relationship. Abby, during one of all too frequent arguements over this topic, things got really heated and she blurted out that it's all my fault and that I'm the one bending the keys! Later, after things cooled down, I checked my key and sure enough it was bent -but only slightly. Abby, do you really think that I could be the cause of this problem or am I just easily manipulated? Or is it maybe Honda's fault for making the keys so DAMN long in the first place!?!

No problems with the gas cap or seat latch, but it is hard as hell to get the key in the ignition at times. Seems more like to key slot than it does the key. ???

  3. Yeah, I know. You have to aim it in exactly straight with laser-like precision or it gets hung up. Why Honda why...........................

No problems for me in the seat slot...but the ignition is a real pain sometimes.
