angry Surfer Let me quote you and add some replies

""If I was half as uncoordinated as you I wouldn't even bother riding. Pumping gas must be quite complicated for you.... WTF???? Is this sticks and stones...Are you dreaming......lost for words....???
""When did this become a thread about anything other than a question about the gas gauge?""......Since you asked I would refer to this line in a previous reply ...."I fill mine on it's wheels with me sitting on the bike and it only indicates full for about 5 minutes." Sound familiar??
That doesn't doesn't sound like a comment on a gauge to me. Fair for a comment.

""Go troll some place else""......Troll my ass...I post seldom and try to offer sensible information..., If I don't want to post or realize I'm posting to a brick wall I keep my mouth shut. ""instead of trying to insight a flame war"" you seem to be lighting the flame........ ""by hijacking this thread."" Plus I had an earlier post directly related to the subject....seems you are the late comer....Get your facts in order befoe you run post maliciously........

""Sorry 2thdr, didn't want to mess up your thread. My response was in support of your question about the gauge rarely reading full. By filling the tank with the bike in an upright position (on or off the bike) you can get a full reading on the gauge as you have already discovered.""

Did you happen to read this post by 2thd in post #16????? "FWIW I filled up on the center stand and, voila' a full reading on the gauge! Stupid is as stupid does...it's a good thing I'm still learning."

Seems to me Surfer you a completley out of line. Run your method of filling your tank by a Fire Marshall or some one with an ounce of sense. Post the results. I hope you learn something about refuelling and safety before you have a serious incident. I'm gonna call derstuka on you!!!! Bully!!!!

Oh! to 2thdr Sorry....but the welcoming party to the site always says "Welcome to tthe madness", some just can't handle it.

FWIW the first bar from full is only worth a very small percentage of the tank. If you fill up on the center stand and fill to the bottom of your filler cap do you see that bar. It really only makes up a tiny percentage of the total tank. The 6th fuel bars increase from a small percentage in the first couple bars, hold the value for the rest except for the last flash bar which makes up the largest percentage.

EDIT: sorry didn't read the the entire thread. Looks like it's all good.

Silver actually it is quite accurate, it's just not linear like most gauges. If you figure out the bars vs distance for a while it's bang on.

Yeah, on my Vulcan 900 I just use the gauge for an estimate. Mostly I go my how many miles I've got on the trip meter and how "spirited" I've ridden during that tankful. About 190 miles on the Vulcan and I better find a pump fast. I'm going to start monitoring mileage per tank for the Viffer on this tank. Previous to just a couple of days ago with my speedo not working I was getting horrible mileage!!! Went thru a tank and covered only about 3 miles!
