In every video I have ever seen of someone starting a VFR, the owner always turns on the ignition, waits for the fuel pump to spin up and stop (prime), and then hits the starter. Does anyone know if the fuel pump runs while the starter is cranking? I was thinking about it and wonder if there is any real reason to wait for the fuel pump to stop before starting the engine. If you hit the starter while the fuel pump is priming, does that subject the fuel pump to fewer start and stop cycles? On my bike, the engine starts just fine whether I hit the starter while the fuel pump is priming, or after it has stopped.
