Just picked up my 86' Honda VF500. Wasn't running and was somewhat taken apart. I have two lines under the tank that both look like fuel lines but the fuel petcock looks like it' only takes one line. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Wow, that is one dusty 500!

The '86 has a single fuel line from the petcock's outlet. This line then branches into two lines which connect to the carburetor's fuel inlets.

If you don't know the history of this bike (which doesn't look stellar based on the photo) I would suggest inspecting the valve train before you get too far in.

I should have given some background. I've been riding Honda's for a long time, started out with a 86' honda sx200 quad and eventually led up to a 04 600rr, to a 06 1000rr which i still have, a supermoto cfr450r(street legal), and recently restored a 77 cb750k. Just picked this bike up for $200.00 from a guy local to Phoenix. It's had three owners before me, the second owner started to get it ready to paint and sold it because he didn't have the time. The third owner didn't know anything about bodywork and was going to have a friend of his help him. Needless to say his friend flaked out and it's been sitting in his garage for two years. I need to clean it up as like everything out here, gets dusty over time. Bike is very clean though. I'm a bodyman, so the bodywork isn't an issue.

I got the bike fired the other night spraying gas into the carbs. everything is checking out so far. I will probably pull the valve covers in the next two weeks.

Is there a t-fitting i'm missing to connect both fuel lines to the petcock?

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I don't have a photo of the stock setup (own an '84). Perhaps an '86 owner can help with this.
