On the clutch side of my front tire there are two holes through the axle. Is there supposed to be a cotter pin through these holes? or is it just there for some odd reason (ie previous owner raced bike, required pins)

    Thanks!

No cotter pin, just a couple of holes to put something through to help pull the axle.

A phillips head screw driver fits nicely in there, insert ,twist and pull when removing the axle. The only use I have found for them.
